We have sat up this rules to prevent arrests, accidents and injuries and in worst case death. For it is not completely safe to ghost hunt in the night/ dark in buildings you don’t know. So we have set up some rules/ guide lines that can help us to make it safer for everyone that are on our tours.
Make sure you bring you ID. (drivers license, etc.) so if you are questioned by the police you can prove who you are.
Never go alone always have 1 or 2 friends whit you in case something happens like you have an accident and so on. This is just common sense. If you get hurt, who will get help?
Always have whit you a dust mask or something like that since there can be much dust and dangerous things in the air in this buildings. And a caps or hat since it can be things hanging from the roof. Use good shoes or sneakers so you have good grip when you walk. Have also some gloves since there can be much dust and dirt around the buildings.
It can be good to have a small first aid kit whit you in case you get some cuts or other small injuries that can happen in this buildings. Specially in the dark rooms and hallways.
Always monitor channel 10 FRS462 in case something happens and we need your assistance or something like that, or so you can get other information about what happens. If you use your own radios and use other channels then we do, have one of your radios on dual watch so you know what’s going on around you.
If you get lost, looked in a room or try to find a way out. Yell for help or use channel 10 FRS462 to send out an emergency message.
If you here an emergency message or someone that is hurt we expect that you assist us in helping them out of the building or if they are lost in a search and rescue mission to find them.
Check out the area in daylight so you are familiar with the area. Look for dangerous places and obstacles that you will not be able to see in the dark.
Look for no trespassing signs. Make sure you are not trespassing. If you are on private property you are risking getting a ticket or arrested in some areas. You can get permission from many owners and or caretakers. We will often notify the local Police that we will be in a grave yard, or a specific building "taking pictures" so they are aware of our presence. If you are asked to leave do so immediately, you will not win this argument and you make other explorers look bad if you make a scene. Always respect the hazard signs if you see them on a sight. They are there for a reason.
The best times are from 9pm to 6am, these are the psychic hours, but anytime can produce results. Photos have historically been better in the dark but don't let that discourage you from taking them during the day.
No smoking at the location, this can appear like mist on the photos so you don't want to contaminate your evidence. No smoking, alcohol or drugs at an investigation for mostly obvious reasons. Guests that are intoxicated will be removed from the location.
Every investigator or team should keep a log of events/times everything needs to be logged, not matter how trivial. You sneeze, log it in, it may have sounded like something else to another member elsewhere in the building.
Never take anything whit you from the building /place that is stealing and we will not accept it, people that do that will be reported to the police.
Do not tag or write on the walls or anything else of the places we visit. Guest that do that will be reported to the police for vandalism of property. We will not accept things like this under any circumstance.
Always try to find out who own the property and ask them for permission if you want to do an investigation at the property, so you don’t have to deal whit the police and in worst case go to jail for trespassing or something like that.
If no one know who own the building so try contacting the local authority to see if they have some type of record of the owner.
Try to not just go in to a building whit out permission since you can get arrested and that is not fun so use the extra time to get permission to do an
investigation there.
So be aware of that if you have an investigation on your own in some places.
