First aid

First aid is the first and immediate assistance given to any person suffering from either a minor or serious illness or injury, with care provided to preserve life, prevent the condition from worsening, or to promote recovery. It includes initial intervention in a serious condition prior to professional medical help being available, such as performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) while waiting for an ambulance, as well as the complete treatment of minor conditions, such as applying a plaster to a cut. First aid is generally performed by someone with basic medical training.

Mental health first aid is an extension of the concept of first aid to cover mental health, while psychological first aid is used as early treatment of people who are at risk for developing PTSD

All in our group have a small first aid kit on them in case something happens, we have plans to get a trauma kit but we have to see if we need if first, so long we just get small cuts and so is that the best since it’s good whit just a band aid and we are good to go.
The trauma bag will be used to more serious injuries that can happen, but this will also be a bag that we will not carry whit us since it is to heavy and big to carry around.

The person that have this trauma bag need to have little more then a basic first aid course.

The first aid kit bag we going to use will be of the molle type since they can stand hard use and you can attach it to other things or have it in your belt.

What type of first aid pouch you use is up to your self, we have as a standard that we going to use the black molle type since we find that to be the best one and you can hang it on like the back pack or on other molle gear that we will use. But it’s no problem if you use an other type of pouch since we use this of practical reasons.

Common injuries and other injuries

It’s very common that we get some small cuts and bruises but it’s very rare we get some serious injuries but it can happen since we walk in some very dangerous places sometimes so that is one of the reasons we all carry a small first aid kit on us.

The most common injuries we get is.

  • Small cuts

  • Open cuts that bleeds
  • Sprain ankles
  • Cuts or scrapes in the head
  • Mosquito and small bug bites
  • Smaller fall injuries

Injuries that is not that common to get.

  • Bone fractures

  • Snake bites
  • Bites from other animals
  • Open cuts whit heavy bleeding
  • Other serious injuries
  • Fall from great high and so on
  • Drownings

So we expect that all in our group know basic first aid so they can assist others if they need to or can help them self if they are alone someplace.

Escape hood

Escape hoods is something we normally don’t use but it can be good to have sometimes when we are in abandon buildings and so on I case of fire or other things that can be dangerous like a gas leak and so on.

This escape hood is not standard in our equipment so it’s up to each person if they think they need it or not, it also depends on how much space you have in your back pack I guess.
